Double T Foxtrotters and Bates Stables

We are Tyler and Travis Bates and the farm is located near Gibsonburg, Ohio and we breed and train some very fine, well bred Missouri Foxtrotters for a great, old foxtrot gait.

Our dad, Don Bates trained and raced standardbreds, so we around horses from the beginning and Ty got into the racing with dad at an early age and I came back to horses in my early 30's. The first contact with the Missouri Foxtrotter was in 2005 when Ty purchased a young foxtrotter filly after riding her dam. The filly died, probably from an aneurysm, but Ty was so impressed with the ride that he began to seek out another MFT. Ty found Judella Burton in Kentucky and acquired Barney. Again, the MFT impressed. Barney was so smart and calm from the very beginning and the young kids were riding him soon after he arrived. It's that calm, gentle demeanor and intelligence that first drew us in along with that great, smooth ride. Ty soon had acquired Jurne from Judella and a couple of her mares (Pledge and Annie ) soon after and all of a sudden there is the foundation of a great breeding program with some very fine old MFT breeding on the farm.

We will be doing some limited breeding to get foals that have the same wonderful calm personality and smooth gait that make for a great family/trail horse.
